Tackle Homelessness
#ReclaimOurParksThe Problem
Managing the homelessness crisis is the top priority for our city. I hear a clear mandate from the community every single day: “We want our parks back.” Right now, our public spaces are not the safe, family-friendly environments they were meant to be.
Why Me on This
I chair the board of UCAN, the community action agency already delivering homeless and poverty services across Douglas County. I am not proposing to build something from scratch. I know the people who do this work, and I know what they need from City Hall.
The Plan
- Close Deer Creek Camp, “the Point”: I have a decisive plan to close this encampment and restore the surrounding area.
- Establish a Dedicated Site: We cannot just move the problem; we must manage it. We will designate a specific location where campers have access to sanitation and critical support services.
- Collaborate for Solutions: I will partner with local nonprofits, along with county and state leaders, to provide pathways to rehabilitation that restore human dignity while strictly enforcing public safety.
The Promise
We will deliver a firm, compassionate solution that gives our parks back to the community and restores safety to our neighborhoods.
